Bath Spa

PROJECT

Bath Spa Refurbishment

The first floor of this 1960s house in Bath was gutted and modernised with some nice details.

A 1960s horizontal balustrade was removed and replaced with oak stair parts. The stairwell volume was borrowed to create wardrobe space in both adjoining bedrooms, and not an inch of volume was wasted! The client’s own electrician added lighting. We are always happy to work with tradespeople who you already know and trust, in fact it’s a great way to make new trade contacts.

The wardrobe doors are simple MDF doors with a subtle groove pattern and recessed handles.

The bathroom was stripped back to the joists and studs. Exterior wall was insulated internally. A false wall was created to house the cistern and a large integrated mirror cabinet with heated mirror doors. The bath panel is a bespoke item spray finished to match the bath tiles. Aluminium architraves avoid the common problem of woodwork suffering in a humid environment.

Finally we swooped back in to re-lay the oak flooring downstairs, unfortunately a cowboy had fitted it badly on an uneven floor, with no glue or nails.
